Well the other day I said I wouldn’t post any Skodas post 1991 because some OPPOs have a love for them and I don’t want to upset them with images of new Skodas unavailable to North American persons.
However I received an e-mail this morning from Skoda saying how their sales have seen the best January ever with 91,600 units sold.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Now Skoda hasn’t been a slouch with sales the last few years but sales increase by these levels sure look good.
Sales of the new Mk3 Superb up 62.3% (which would explain why my build date was pushed back a little) with suppliers unable to keep up demand for parts Skoda needs to get the motors out the building.
Well done Skoda.
Also not to mention the return of Skoda to the rally scene after an 11 year absence.

The future looks bright for Skoda.

Awesome! I love Škoda, I really wish they were available here in America.

Why should we be upset about shittier versions of VWs being not available to me in the USA?
I certainly am not....

Trust me, they’re not shittier versions.

I drove the new Superb L&K edition a couple of weeks ago,
Such a great value,
280BHP, 4X4 5.8sec to 100 Kph.
and almost every thinkable add-on (active cruise control, heated and cooled seats, 12 speakers and much more.)
Drives like a dream in the city,
and when you want to have some fun on B roads, the 4x4 system makes sure you will have a blast.
all this for about 40% percent less than an equivalent 3-Series .
Excellent cars, its like a value edition VW.

Most of them are nicer than the equivalent VW in my opinion. The Superb is far nicer than the Passat.

As I said:
“because some OPPOs have a love for them”
You may not, so I won’t include you in that ‘some people’.
Oh and they are much better BTW.
Take care and have a great day.

That sounds like some sour grapes my man. We’ll be able to import them eventually.

Got the 1.4TSi, ACT SE L Exec coming on around the 3rd of March (pushed back a couple of days as originally ordered (didn’t need a test drive) for the 1st of March. Spec was fantastic and great value for money, add to £4,000 taken off the £25,550 price tag it was a no brainer to replace the current 2013 1.4TSi, S spec, Mk2 Superb.

And better value too. An equivalently specced Octavia is £2k cheaper than a Golf, and it comes with one of the world’s most cavernous boots. I know which one I’d rather have.

If I had the money I’d buy a new Skoda. My Octavia is almost soulless and I have a limited emotional connection to it, but it’s a very good car. It sits very well in the gaping chasm of my vehicular needs; reliable, comfortable, economical, cheap to run/tax/insure, it’s quick enough and handles OK-ish (still haven’t replaced those tyres), but I can’t help feeling that it’s a bit sterile. Would be nice to drive a new vRS and see what joie de vivre (or rather Freude) they’ve managed to inject, if any.

Agreed. Skoda used to be rubbish (I know first hand we had one of these...)
But they make some rather nice stuff now. I’d be happy to daily drive pretty much anything they make.

Some of the owners of the Mk3 Octavia have had high praise for it and said it’s better than the Mk2. One guy who owns two Mercs and Mk3 Superb have said they prefer the Superb and one who owns a Mk3 Octavia and Mk3 Superb, prefers the Superb.
The Mk2 Octavia is a solid and reliable car. Have you thought about getting it remapped?

Always thought the Felicia wasn’t a bad looking little car though.

Manual or DSG?

I have done so through Shark Performance. It’s at 204bhp now, and torque is ludicrous at 420Nm which really doesn’t help the handling situation. I’ve thought about outfitting it with new wheels and Nankang NS2Rs just for summer driving, but my real issue is in the wet with the crappy Evergreen tyres. It just wants to spin and understeer on the slightest throttle, so realistically a good set of all-seasons would be a better purchase, giving me better driving all year round rather than just fun driving in the summer. Considering this is my default comfortable mid-to-long-distance car and it’s at least permanently mildly moist around these parts, the A/S tyres should be the obvious decision, an obvious decision I still haven’t made yet.

No, non at all. In three years the only issue was a brake light bulb went.
Great little engine, very solid and reliable in the cold.

Quite the contrary really. I’d be sour if I was mad about the lack of access, but I’m not (and I’m a German car fan)

Interestingly they don’t seem to have been affected by VW’s little difficulty. VW sales are down in many markets but not Skoda (or Audi, as it happens).

The Superb really is an astonishingly good looking car, quite possibly the best looker of the VAG conglomerate. In L&K trim it’s rather Audi like.

I don’t think many people associate VW with SEAT, Skoda, Audi, Porsche, Bentley, etc...
I’ve seen a couple of people whine about their Skoda having an affected engine but everyone else has just got on with it. VW are taking the brunt of it and the rest of the stable are keeping the rollers rolling.

Really struggling to wait the next few weeks to get ours. Picked the licence plate the other day, getting her parking permit tomorrow and then to continue to wait for her.
She’s certainly got great presence.

I’m still not sure what you mean. Skodas may be cheaper than other vehicles within VAG using the same platform, but it doesn’t mean they’re significantly worse.
